Hurricane update

Hurricane Gustav is currently at Category 4 level, with sustained winds at 145mph, and it's continuing to strengthen. If it reaches 155mph, it will be a Category 5 storm, just like the infamous Katrina.

(Find out more on www.weather.com.)
I don't know why, guys, but something about this hurricane and the potential danger and damage it seems to be gearing up for...well, it's really hitting me hard; harder then usual. Maybe because I've been there (to the Gulf Coast), maybe because I've seen firsthand what these storms do to people's lives...maybe because I know people there...I don't know why, exactly, but I'm finding this hard to deal with.
And I'm hundreds of miles away, safe in my house tonight, my worst weather concern was that it was uncomfortably humid today....
*sigh*

I wish I could do something to help.

Hurricane Gustav

(Egads....I can't believe it's been WEEKS since I last posted! Sorry! School started up and life got crazier....)

Pray hard, guys, for the people of New Orleans and the Gulf Coast & surrounding areas. Hurricane Gustav is fast approaching. As of this morning, when I last checked, it was already a Category 3 hurricane, still headed straight for Louisiana.

Yesterday was the 3 year anniversary of Katrina.

I was down in Mississippi and New Orleans, LA back in November, and there is still SO much recovery work to be done. I can't even imagine what yet another hurricane would do to the area, the people, and their moral.

Also pray for the people of Cuba, who have Gustav hitting them from one direction and Hanna from the other.

Pray hard.

Tuesday

I'm off on an adventure!!

Hi everyone,

Merry Christmas!!

I know. It's been silent lately. I'm sorry!! I leave tomorrow for my big mission trip to South America. I'm very excited...and a little nervous, too! But needless to say, I have been very busy these last few days, with trip-related and Christmas-related activities :)

I have a whole plethora of posts that I'm working on, but I don't think I'll have time to finish or get anything up before I leave....so sorry.

So leave me lots of great comments telling me how much you all miss me :) and look for lots of new posts when I get back in a little over a week :)
